Private, on your phone
Once you reply, the conversation moves to WhatsApp or a personal email address, whichever you prefer. From that point on, nothing touches your firm's systems.
Nothing shared without your approval
Your name, resume and background go to a hiring firm only after you approve the exact submission. You always know which firm it is.
No calls with us
No scheduled screens and no phone tag. Answer our questions over text when it suits you, nights and weekends included.
Specific roles, not a mailing list
We write about one role that fits your practice. If another open role fits better, we tell you about it. We never send your information anywhere on spec.
How it works
Every step is yours to approve.
A short email about one role
The firm, practice area, level, location and pay range, in a few lines. Reply if you want the full details. Ignore it if you don't.
A few questions, on your schedule
Over WhatsApp or email, our assistant asks about your practice, what you want next and the logistics the firm needs, and collects a resume and a writing sample or deal sheet. Expect a dozen or so questions, answered whenever you like over a day or two.
Review and approve your package
We prepare a short summary of your experience for the hiring team. You edit it and approve it, and we review it ourselves, before anything reaches the firm.
Submission and interviews
We submit your package to the hiring team and keep you updated through interviews and any offer.

What attorneys usually ask us.
Where did you get my email address?
From the attorney bio your firm publishes on its own website. We don't buy lists, and we only write when your published experience fits a role we are filling.
What does this cost me?
Nothing. The hiring firm pays us a placement fee, a percentage of your first year base salary, and only if they hire you.
Will my current firm find out?
No. We never contact your current firm about you, and nothing about you goes to any hiring firm until you approve it.
Am I talking to a person or a bot?
Both. An assistant handles the back and forth on WhatsApp so you can answer on your own time, and we review every submission ourselves before it goes anywhere. You can ask to deal with a person directly at any point, and we will take over the thread.
What does the hiring firm see?
The package you approve. That is a short summary of your experience, your resume, any materials the firm asks for such as a deal sheet or writing sample, your answers to the firm's screening and logistics questions, and a cover letter if the firm wants one. Nothing else.
Which firms do you recruit for?
Mid-sized, boutique and national firms hiring in New York, mostly in real estate and litigation. The email we send you names the firm. We keep names off this site so a firm's search stays quiet.
What if another recruiter already sent me to this firm?
Tell us. Firms ask whether you have been submitted in the last 12 months, and a duplicate submission hurts you. We will not submit you anywhere someone else already has.
How do I stop hearing from you?
Reply unsubscribe to any of our emails, or write to recruiting@sortiary.com. We remove you from all outreach, and we delete your information on request.
